我梦见，你在舞台上慢慢地死去
温和地越过年华
当你的回忆已经褪色
直到你梦到一把刀的边缘
我的记忆正尖锐无比
我宁愿你将远去
我可以继续这种宁静的生活

I dreamt your death slowly,
in stages, kindly through the years.
As your memory faded,
so mine sharpened
until your dreamt edges held a knife.
And I would that you would go
then be held to this still-life.
You, who used to laugh at everything
and cry at nothing.
They tell me now your tears spill over
and salt your coffee:
morning after morning.
