Socialism is Good goes Karaoke

Times have changed and while a composer remembers that in 1963 he committed his “biggest mistake” when, in trying to “serve politics” (为政治服务 wei zhengzhi fuwu), he wrote a parody of the revolutionary song “Socialism Is Good” (社会主义好 Shehuizhuyi hao) and was harshly criticized for it, today, on the other hand, subjective takes of the song abound: it can be sung in karaoke fashion as heard and seen here or sold by the millions in a rock version on CDs with titles like Red Rock (红色摇滚 Hongse yaogun) (2002).
