The Foolish Old Man in a Quotation Song

Partly due to the massacre on Tian’anmen in 1989 and in unison with the official celebrations of what would have been Mao’s 100th birthday in 1993, Mao is reborn in new glory, and the time of his “dictatorship” now appears to some as a “golden age” compared to the present. Accordingly, the revival of his “old” story is still in full flow, both officially and inofficially. Remakes of the well-known quotation song as can be heard here appear constantly on Red Sun tapes and CDs published since the 1990s.
