Tang Xiaohe, Cheng Li: Forging ahead in Wind and Waves (Tang Xiaohe, Cheng Li: Zai dafeng langzhong qianjin 唐小禾, 程犁: 在大风浪中前进)
The painting "Forging ahead in Wind and Waves" (在大风大浪中前进) created by painting couple Tang Xiaohe 唐小禾 (1941–) and Cheng Li 程犁 (1941–) shows a more mature Mao on a boat, in bathrobe, surrounded by youths and children after his famous Yangzi river swim of July 16, 1966. This image and the previous one (Mao at the Gutian Conference) were both displayed at the national exhibition in 1972 (to commemorate the anniversary of Mao’s Yan’an Talks, Andrews 1994, 360f.); this painting even gave the exhibit its name.
