But it is not as if such exaggerated depictions were entirely peculiar to the Cultural Revolution comic, even if the technique became much more clear-cut and unambiguous during this time. Indeed, similar visual examples from before and after the Cultural Revolution can be found easily. The covers of a number of 1950s comics make this very clear. This one shows the villain stricken on the floor, while his skin already has the typical greenish tint that also characterizes villains in the model works and Cultural Revolution art generally.
