Awards


In 1994 “Chongqing Tanpan” won several awards in the PR China. Most of them belonged to the “Hundred Flowers Awards” (Bai hua jiang 百花奖) organised by the journal “Popular Cinema” (Dazhong dianying 大众电影) and based on viewers’ votes. Other awards the film received are the prestigious “Golden Rooster” which is chosen by a jury of cinema experts, and the “Golden Deer” at the Changchun Film Festival. “Chongqing Tanpan” received the “Golden Rooster” for the “Best Art Direction“, the “Golden Deer” for the “Best Screenplay” (by Zhang Xiaotian), and at the “Hundred Flowers Awards” it was honoured in the categories “Best Drama“, “Best Script“, “Best Direction” (by Li Qiankuan and Xiao Guiyun), “Best Art Design“, “Best Costume“, “Best Make-Up”, “Best Requisite”, and twice “Best Supporting Actor” for a male and a female actor, namely Sun Feihu as Jiang Jieshi and the Taiwanese female actor Hu Huizhong as journalist Tong Xin.
